Welcome to the home page of the class 387 Electrostar site. 2014 saw the introduction of the new Electric Multiple Units (EMUs) built by Bombardier Transportation. The units have been built to be used on the Brighton to Bedford line on Thameslink. The initial build was for 29 units (Class 387/1) that would be used on Govia Thameslink Railway thus freeing up class 319s to be released to other Train Companies. A later order was for an additional 27 units (Class 387/2) to replace the Class 442 Gatwick Express units. Later an additional order for 8 units (Class 387/3) that would souly be for First Great Western
